Belly Love

I have not been pregnant for more than six months now (and no, I’m not pregnant now, either!)

Yet I still find myself subconsciously touching my belly ALL.THE.TIME. Kind of like I did when I was still in my first trimester and not yet showing, or even well into the second trimester I guess. When I looked rounder but didn’t have the big bump. Even at nine months, my bump wasn’t enormous, but it didn’t stop me from caressing it. It held Maya, after all!

I notice pregnant women tend to do this; touch their bellies; rest their hand on their belly. It’s a totally subconscious thing and I’ve yet to meet a mom who didn’t do it.

But I’m not pregnant anymore … so what gives? It’s not like I’m feeling phantom kicks or anything. I don’t know if it’s because I have a little pooch there that wasn’t really there pre-pregnancy, or what, but for some reason, I’m drawn to this part of my body.

We do want to have another baby at some point, but I’m in no rush. (Notice I said “I” — hubby would be happy to have #2 STAT).

Anyway … am I crazy? Did you find yourself touching  your belly a lot even after your baby was born?!
